CINCINNATI -- Musketeer fans aren’t the only people who think Xavier University is underrated when it comes to college basketball.
The Washington Post’s Matthew Giles published a rousing defense of Xavier’s status on Monday.
The sports scribe muses that the Muskies' massive victories over renowned teams and their undefeated status should net them more merit. The Muskies did climb to No. 6 in the polls Monday - their highest ranking ranking ever.
The WaPo writer goes so far as to say Xavier is the top team of the 2016 season.
Giles goes on to talk about the team’s versatility, returning stars and other weapons.
He ends with a not-so-subtle poke at the rivals to the south – the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
