WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Gyms and fitness centers are waiting to reopen in Ohio, but one gym went virtual when the pandemic hit and business has never been better, according to the owner.

Jeff McMahon is a fitness facilitator who owns Total Body Construction in West Chester Township, Ohio, and his gym, like others in the state, closed in March. However, he moved operations online and now he trains people locally and across the world.

"I've got people in Puerto Rico, Switzerland, England, Canada..." McMahon said.

And McMahon said his clients like having someone to help them out while they work out from home.

"You can get free workouts on YouTube anytime you want," McMahon said. "But the accountability of having someone watch your form, make sure you're doing it right, answer your questions..."

He said he had clients whom he would train online before, but it wasn't enough to maintain the business. Now, he said, the new model is going so well he plans on only training a few clients in person once gyms can reopen.
