CINCINNATI — The name will remain the same, but with new owners when Woodburn Brewery reopens in the second quarter of 2021.

On Monday, March First Brewing's parent company, March First Manufacturing, LLC, announced it purchased the East Walnut Hills brewery.

The purchase included Woodburn's taproom and brewing facility, located at 2800 Woodburn Ave., along with all of the brewery's "intellectual assets." Woodburn first opened in 2016. It closed indefinitely this past June.

Woodburn is the second local brewery March First purchased since late 2019. March First added Figleaf Brewing, located in Middletown, to its portfolio in September of last year.

Both breweries join March First's craft distillery concept, Cincinnati Distilling (formerly known as Sycamore Distilling).

"The addition of 'Woodburn Brewing' to our portfolio solidifies our spot as one of the largest brewers and distillers in the Cincinnati region," said Josh Engel, March First spokesperson, in a press release. "We can't wait to build on the Woodburn brand and taproom and are thrilled to be part of the East Walnut Hills community. Woodburn Brewing will announce a robust community outreach and event schedule in 2021."

March First plans to reopen Woodburn's taproom by either spring or summer, depending on Ohio's permitting process, which has seen delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
