MIAMISBURG, Ohio (AP) — A former youth soccer club treasurer accused of stealing nearly $200,000 from the organization is now facing charges, authorities said.

Richard Campbell, 59, of Miamisburg, faces three counts of aggravated theft in an indictment recently handed up by a Montgomery County grand jury. It was made public Thursday.

Miamisburg Soccer Association board members contacted authorities in November 2018 after noticing discrepancies between bank statement balances and the balances reported to them by Campbell. When the board members confronted Campbell, prosecutors said he admitted misappropriating some of the funds.

Further investigation, including a forensic audit of the accounts, showed Campbell stole nearly $200,000 between 2012 and 2018, prosecutors said.

It wasn’t known Thursday if Campbell has retained an attorney.
