CARROLLTON, Ky. – A Carroll County grand jury indicted parents in the death of their 4-day-old child.
Lisa Payton, 29, and Jarod Martin, 33, were indicted on charges of murder and wanton endangerment Feb. 29.
The 4-day-old boy died at Carroll County Memorial Hospital Aug. 12 after Payton and Martin brought him there, saying he had stopped breathing, Kentucky State Police previously said.
Troopers said they suspected abuse and neglect.
Both parents were previously indicted on charges of first-degree criminal abuse. The enhancement of the charges followed the discovery of new evidence during the investigation, troopers said.
