COVINGTON, Ky. – Lexington police arrested a man who Covington police said is responsible for attacking a woman with a samurai sword.

Terry Phillips, 39, of Covington, attempted to decapitate the woman Feb. 6 after an argument inside a Holman Avenue home, police said. He instead struck her arm with the sword, causing a serious injury, police said.

Police issued a warrant for Phillips, but officers couldn’t immediately find him.

As the investigation continued, police found some possible addresses in Lexington where they thought Phillips could be, and passed along the information to their counterparts there.

Police arrested Phillips Tuesday night. He was charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault.

"I really just feel for the lady, and now he's caught or whatever, he has to deal with the Lord when he gets there," neighbor Susan Kraus said.

Sara Walters, who owns a store beneath the apartment where Phillips lived, described him as quiet and not very sociable.

"It's hard to believe that someone like that was right above us the whole time. You know, we'd see him every day," she said.
