SWITZERLAND COUNTY, Ind. -- Parts of Switzerland County, Indiana, are under a boil water advisory for the next 2-3 weeks, according to an alert from the county.

The advisory affects Craig Township, Pleasant Township and the western portion of Cotton Township.

The boil water advisory is due to low pressure, officials said.

Residents are asked not to drink, cook with or brush teeth tap water during a boil water advisory due to bacteria, due to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Hot, soapy water is safe to wash dishes in and do laundry. Bathing water does not need to be boiled.
