With Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping out of the way, you might need to mail Christmas gifts to their recipients. The U.S. Postal Service is working to make that a smoother process this year with extended holiday hours at some locations.
If you need to mail a package in the U.S. before Christmas, mail sent by the following deadlines should arrive before December 25:
- December 14: USPS Retail Ground
- December 19: First Class Mail
- December 20: Priority Mail
- December 22: Priority Express Mail
Those dates only apply to addresses within the 48 contiguous states in the U.S. For a more in-depth table of holiday shipping deadlines using the U.S. Postal Service, click here .
FedEx offers delivery by Christmas for items shipped as late as December 23, but the company will charge extra delivery fees. Click here for more information on shipping through FedEx .
