CINCINNATI -- Kroger will begin selling popsicles from a local startup company, Streetpops.

The popsicles will be available in select Kroger stores beginning March 19, according to a post on the company's Facebook page.

"Oh happy day! The week of March 19th you'll be able to find 4-pack boxes of 6 of our favorite flavors at 50+ local Kroger Stores," the post said.

Four-packs of Streetpops will be sold for $5.99, according to Streetpops' website.

Streetpops is the creation of Sara Bornick, a Green Bay native who moved to Cincinnati to work as a graphic designer. Later, she desired to pursue her true passion.

“I went back to culinary school with the hopes of opening an ice-cream shop,” Bornick told WCPO in a 2015 interview. “But I decided it would be more fun to have a portable and mobile business, so I changed all my ice-cream recipes into popsicle recipes.”

In 2011, Bornick packed up her popsicles in little pushcarts and headed to various events and markets. On one of her first outings, at the first City Flea, she sold 300 popsicles.

“I thought, 'Wow, this is great. Maybe I can make a career out of it,'” Bornick said.

Now, Bornick regularly serves thousands of popsicles every week through her retail shops in Over-the-Rhine and Oakley, and her pushcarts at events and farmers’ markets.

Streetpops are already available in four-pack boxes at Whole Foods, Jungle Jim’s and Avril-Bleh Deli. Streetpops will be sold in more than 50 Kroger stores, according to the company's website. Check specific locations here.
