For most of this year, we at WCPO.com have been steadily building and growing what we provide you.
That has meant a more consistent, focused approach to covering news topics that matter to you.
It's also meant developing meaningful opinion content that can help shape conversation and strives to make our community a better place.
In January, we made cartoonist Kevin Necessary a regular contributor on WCPO.com. His cartoons often also air on WCPO 9 On Your Side. Kevin's editorial cartoons on an array of topics have helped shape opinion not just here, but around the world through the power of social media.
In June, we launched an editorial board. That's normally a feature newspapers have. But we felt it was important that the station speak up for all of you and advocate directly for this region.
Here are a few examples of some of our editorials:
- Major League Baseball is two-faced on the Rose decision
- We need a housing court in Cincinnati
- Dear HUD, we're not getting what we paid for
We also earlier this year created the role of managing editor for opinion and engagement. Dave Holthaus took on that role and has led our opinion coverage.
Dave has steadily solicited interesting columns from a variety of different viewpoints in our community. Here are a few examples:
- Trump's ideas about Muslims are racist and unconstitutional
- The Confederate flag is a symbol, but America has deeper problems
All of this great opinion content about the Cincinnati area is now available in one spot. Go to WCPO.com/opinion to keep up with opinions that matter about our region.
And if you have suggestions for editorials, column topics or other opinion content, reach out to Dave Holthaus at david.holthaus@wcpo.com.
