Your new best friend has a name that might trip up your tongue.

A pair of dog breeds with regal names joined the American Kennel Club Wednesday, according to a news release from the organization.

The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje (that’s Netherlands-e Coy-ker-hond-tsje) is a bushy-tailed spaniel that Dutch nobility once used to hunt ducks; the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand Bah-say Griffon Vahn-Day-ahn) is a French rabbit-hunting hound described as “laid-back, intelligent (and) friendly.”

Both breeds are also very, very cute and lovable. That’s not in the AKC release. That’s just us.

With their formal induction into the AKC, the Kooiker and GBGV can compete in the sporting and hound groups at AKC shows such as the Westminster Dog Show starting this month.

Thinking about adding one to your family? Read up on their breed profiles before you do.
