President Donald Trump ordered the removal of the then-ambassador to Ukraine after she obstructed the administration's efforts to convince the country to open an investigation into Joe Biden's son, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Marie Yovanovitch was recalled from her post as the ambassador to Ukraine in May. The WSJ reports that her removal was a priority for Trump because she did not push Ukraine to open a corruption investigation into Hunter Biden, the son of leading Democrat candidate Joe Biden.

A whistleblower complaint alleges that Trump threatened to withhold military aid to Ukraine if it did not investigate corruption charges into Biden.

There is currently no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Hunter Biden.

On Thursday, Trump told reporters that he still hoped Ukraine would launch an investigation into Joe Biden.

More on this as it develops.
