A couple in Edmonton, Alberta was arrested in a convenience store last week, but not after several crazy minutes of playing cat-and-mouse with officers attempting to bring the couple into custody.

According to CTV, Brittany Burke, 29, and Richard Pariseau, 28, both from Edmonton, were arrested at the Reddi Mart after Pariseau allegedly attempted to use a stolen credit card.

The store's owner, Bhagwant Chauhan, notified police of the alleged crime.

Once an officer arrived, the couple desperately tried to get away.

Pariseau and the officer struggled for several moments, according to the footage. Pariseau was then stopped at the door by Chauhan after the officer tried to perform a body check to Pariseau.

Meanwhile, Burke went to the stock room and climbed up a ladder. Seconds later, she appeared to have crashed through the ceiling and onto store shelving.

As more officers arrived, the couple was placed into custody.

“It was scary, you’re thinking the person is in the back but she’s up in the roof, thank god everybody is okay,” Chauhan told CTV.

According to CTV, Pariseau faces 11 charges, including possession of stolen property under $5,000, using a stolen credit card, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. Burke was charged with obstructing a police officer, failure to comply with an undertaking and mischief, CTV reported.
