The Bodum + Starbucks Recycled Coffee Press sold at Starbucks businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada are being recalled.

The U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission announcement says the coffee press' plunger knob can break and expose the metal rod. It poses a laceration threat to the consumer.

The recall went into effect May 1 and includes 230,000 units in the U.S. and 33,200 in Canada.

Customers who purchased the press should call Starbucks toll-free at (888) 843-0245 or visit www.starbucks.com and click "customer service" at the bottom of the homepage for more information.

The $20 press is an 8-cup French press cylindrical glass beaker, screen and plunger. It has a dark gray frame with a locking lid and a light gray handle and knob.

It has been sold in Starbucks stores since November 2016.

There have been eight reports of the plunger's knob breaking, Starbucks said.
