Gilbert police say the incident started as a “suspicious person” call at a Walmart, involving a man who was screaming and yelling.

The suspect refused to speak to officers, walked away and got into his car.

Officers tried to pull the man over multiple times, but he refused to stop, ran numerous stoplights and continued onto the freeway where DPS begsn assisting in the chase.

According to scanner traffic, police were pursuing a gray Smart car. It does not appear law enforcement vehicles were able to make contact with the driver.
