This lawmaker certainly knows how to make a statement.
Standing above a beheaded chicken and splattered with blood, Missouri State Representative Mike Moon rips out its heart and pleads for public support of his latest abortion bill.
“I think we need to get to the heart of the matter here,” Moon said, gingerly cupping the freshly gutted organ in a video he posted to Facebook and YouTube Monday. “So today, I'm filing a bill that will lead to the stopping of abortion in the state of Missouri, and I hope you'll support it."
Moon's bill, the "Missouri Right to Life Act," states that personhood begins at conception and would grant unborn children constitutional rights.

Responding to people who were disgusted by his stunt, Moon wrote on Facebook, “Just think how gross abortion is. I wasn't trying to make a comparison, but simply to get a couple of points across.”
On Wednesday, Moon posted on Facebook a Missouri House committee hearing notice that did not include his bill, noting it seemed official that his bill would not be heard.
The lawmaker also called out a CNN article on his video as “ridiculous” for reporting it was recorded on Facebook Live rather than posted after the fact.
