George and Amal Clooney are donating $100,000 to help migrant children separated from their families.
The celebrity couple told People the Clooney Foundation is making the donation to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.
"At some point in the future our children will ask us: 'Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centers?' And when we answer yes, they'll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood," the Clooneys told People. "We can’t change this administration's policy but we can help defend the victims of it."
The Young Center describes itself as "a human rights organization that advocates for the rights and best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children."
More than 2,300 minors have been separated from their families at the border since May 5, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The practice has been widely criticized, and leaders in Washington have been divided on how to address it. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would take action to keep immigrant families together.
