Following the recent death of a fraternity pledge, Florida State University has banned all fraternities and sororities.
Tallahassee, Florida police said Pi Kappa Phi pledge Andrew Coffey, 20, died at an off-campus chapter party on Friday, Nov. 3. Investigators collected alcohol bottles at the scene but have not released an official cause of death for Coffey. The bottles collected were scattered on the porch of the home where the party took place.
Coffey was found unresponsive just after 10 a.m. Friday.
FSU President John Thrasher made the announcement of the indefinite interim suspension on fraternities and sororities and called for a new normal for Greek Life at school, according to the Associated Press.
He also put a ban in place on alcohol at Recognized Student Organization events that will last as lon gas the fraternity and sorority suspension.
