DETROIT, Mich. — Part of the bridge that runs between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, was shut down Monday afternoon after police say possible explosives were found near the structure on the Canadian side.
WXYZ’s news helicopter spotted heavy traffic jams near the Ambassador Bridge during the day.
Only U.S. traffic to Canada was being affected as of 1:21 p.m. ET after the lanes from Canada to the U.S. were opened back up, according to the Windsor Police Department
The police department said it was alerted to possible explosives within a vehicle in a secondary inspection area.
The department added that no threats are associated with the incident. Still the threat of possible explosives was being investigated.
An explosive disposal unit was called to the scene, police say.
