MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio — A Waynesville police officer has been charged with rape and other sex crimes for offenses prosecutors said happened before he was hired by the department, WCPO media partner WHIO is reporting.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Peyton Kocevar, 22, of Centerville. Kocevar is charged with seven counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Prosecutors said the offenses are said to have happened between 2012 and 2016 involving multiple victims. Kocevar was still in high school at the time the crimes are said to have been committed.

The victims told investigators Kocevar “forced himself upon them,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Kocevar has been a Waynesville police officer since September 2019.

The Centerville Police Department is investigating the case.
