SPRINGBORO, Ohio — A physical education teacher accused of misconduct resigned from his position in Springboro Schools Tuesday, according to a statement from the district.

Police and district officials will continue to investigate the allegations, which one attorney described to the Journal-News as accusations of sexual misconduct. District spokesman Scott Marshall said he could not confirm the nature of the teacher's behavior.

WCPO has elected not to name the teacher because he has not been charged with a crime. The district’s statement described him as having taught P.E. at Clearcreek Elementary School and Springboro Intermediate School.

Marshall said he could not disclose which of the schools the allegations had originated from.

Police have contacted the families of students involved in the alleged activity and anticipate their investigation could take several weeks.
