LEBANON, Ohio – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was warning residents about scam phone calls from someone claiming to be a deputy.

Officials have received several reports of bogus calls from someone identifying himself as Deputy David Scott, Sgt. Brian Hounshell said in a news release Saturday.

The scammer tells the victims that the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has warrants for their arrest, but if they send get a money order and give him the information, the warrants would be recalled.

Deputies do not ask for payment over the phone. Hounshell said that anyone who receives such a call should just hang up and ignore the caller.
