MASON, Ohio -- Kings Island’s water park Soak City was closed Friday due to a “potential water quality issue,” according to the amusement park.

“There are no indications that our water quality is contaminated, but we are taking an abundance of caution,” Don Helbig, spokesman for the park, told WCPO news partner the Journal-News. “We were notified of a potential water quality issue that resulted in the water park being closed today.”

Helbig said Kings Island utilizes redundancy in ensuring water quality using both chemical and UV treatments.

Soak City is expected to open back up to guests Saturday, the Journal-News reported.
