FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- One person was killed and two others were injured Saturday night on state Route 123.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Corey N. Kappus was headed south at about 9 p.m. when he fell asleep.

Troopers said Kappus' SUV went off the right side of the road, hit a guardrail, went left of center and hit a car head-on.

A front-seat passenger in the car, 20-year-old Courtney P. Trent, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car's driver, 20-year-old James Daley, is hospitalized at Atrium Medical Center.

Kappus was treated at Atrium and released.

Troopers said speed and no seatbelt are considered factors in the crash.
