Driver, 74, killed when other car runs stop sign, patrol says

HARLAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A car ran a stop sign and caused a fatal crash in Warren County Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Fred Carmack Jr.,  74, of Morrow, Ohio, was killed in the accident about 11:47 a.m. on state Route 123 at the intersection of state Route 132, the patrol said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the other driver, Danny Hiler, 71, of Georgetown, Ohio, ran the stop sign while traveling northeast on state Route 132. Carmack Jr. was going northwest on state Route 123.

Hiler was transported to Bethesda North with serious injuries. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt, according to preliminary reports. Charges are possible pending results of the investigation.
