CARLISLE, Ohio -- A man was taken by helicopter to a Dayton hospital overnight after he crashed into a moving train, Ohio state troopers said.

Paul A. Grierson, 52, of Carlisle, was heading west on Fairview Drive at about 11:15 p.m. Friday when his truck went across a marked stop bar, crashed into the closed railroad gate and past the flashing railroad crossing sign, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Then it hit a northbound CSX train.

Firefighters freed him from the truck, and a medical helicopter took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

State troopers said the crash is still under investigation.
