WILMINGTON, Ohio – Two teenagers were killed in a crash Wednesday night.

Kimberly Sears of Wilmington was driving herself and Kehte Little of Sabina, both 17, southbound on New Martinsburg Road at about 9:14 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The vehicle went off the left side of the road and hit a tree, troopers said. The vehicle then overturned and landed upside down in a creek.

EMS personnel transported both teens to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead by the Highland County coroner.

Both teens attended Laurel Oaks in Wilmington. Classmates said they plan to hold a candlelight vigil next week.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers said they did not suspect alcohol or drug use. They asked anyone with information contact the Wilmington Highway Patrol Post at 937-382-2551.
