WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two West Chester officers injured in a four-vehicle crash Thursday were on their way to help search for a fleeing shoplifting suspect, according to township officials.

A dispatch was made about 1 p.m. about shoplifting at the Meijer on Tylersville Road. The suspect fled west on Tylersville Road, causing at least one accident, officials said.

Two cruisers were on their way to assist when they were involved in a crash with two other vehicles while driving northbound on Cincinnati-Dayton Road, near Cresthaven, officials said.

The cruisers had their lights and sirens on, officials said.

Both officers were treated for minor injuries.

The suspect in the shoplifting incident has not been apprehended.
