Pike County authorities find escaped inmate soaking in hot tub

WAVERLY, Ohio — Authorities found an escaped inmate soaking in a hot tub Tuesday afternoon.

Pike County authorities apprehended 34-year-old Autum Sapperfield inside the Bristol Village Activity Center after she had escaped while being booked into the county’s holding facility.

Sapperfield was in the recreation center's hot tub wearing a yellow jumpsuit when authorities found her.

Sapperfield faces charges for possession of heroin, and she will now face a felony escape charge.
