WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Several students suffered minor injuries after two busses crashed at Wilmington Middle School Thursday, according to a district spokesperson.
No major injuries resulted from the crash, spokesperson Jennifer Swindler.
Two school busses crashed when they were heading to Laurel Oaks for an eighth grade field trip, Swindler said in a post on the school district's website.
"Thank you to our local EMTs, police officers, (school) staff, parents, and especially our eighth grade students for their response and care after our bus accident this morning," the post said. "Everyone stayed calm, helped each other and allowed EMTs and officers to do their jobs."
Parents of injured students were contacted, and parents of students on the field trip were allowed to pick up their children if they chose to.
Swindler said school administrators "were tremendously impressed by the maturity shown by our eighth graders and accompanying teachers in a difficult situation."
