CINCINNATI – The latest fatal shooting at Winton Terrace convinced Christina Martin it was time to move to a safer neighborhood.

Three years ago, a bullet went through her child's bedroom wall, the mother of three said.

Monday's shooting on Winneste Avenue near her home was the last straw.

But when Martin called, the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority wouldn't let her transfer, she said.

"They said they don't do a transfer. If I wanted to live somewhere else, I would have to move out of CMHA for six months and then come back and reapply," Martin said.

That would leave her and her kids with no place to live.

So WCPO investigated, and Martin says CHMA called her back and the agency now will let her apply for a transfer.

A spokesperson said transfers have always been available on a case-by-case basis.
