SYMMES TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Family and friends gathered Thursday at the Sikh center on Tylersville Road in West Chester for a customary reading of the Scriptures cover to cover to bring peace to the grieving family of Anant Singh, 64.

Signh was found dead of apparent “homicidal violence” Wednesday morning, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil announced. The funeral is set for Saturday.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 8700 block of Redcloud Court at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, when Singh's wife returned home from work at a local hospital and discovered his body.

"He was always the gentlest of souls. He was always smiling," said family friend Harjinder Singh. "They as a family are the most hospitable family that you could find."

Officials didn’t immediately release any more information about the apparent crime, but did say that they had no information leading them to believe anyone else in the area is at an increased risk of harm.

A neighbor who called 911 told the dispatcher she had noticed a man who "doesn't belong here" loitering on the street Tuesday evening. LISTEN to the call in the player below.

The investigation is ongoing and deputies asked that anyone with information call the Criminal Investigative Section at (513) 851-6000 or Crimestoppers at (513) 352-3040.
