SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 57-year-old Delhi Township man has died following a crash involving a stopped semi on northbound Interstate 71 near Kenwood on Wednesday.

Russell Dodd, of Delhi Township, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox when his vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder just before 5 p.m., according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Dodd's Equinox then collided with a concrete barrier wall along the right shoulder several times before striking the rear of a semi that was stopped on the right shoulder.

Dodd was trapped inside his vehicle, and witnesses to the crash called 911 and initiated CPR. The Sycamore Township Fire Department arrived a short time later and determined Dodd had succumbed to his injuries.

The deadly crash blocked all lanes of northbound I-71 near the Montgomery Road exit until about 9 p.m.

Authorities said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors in the crash.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
