CINCINNATI -- Bethel-Tate and St. Bernard-Elmwood Place high schools might have clashed on the football field Thursday night, but fans and coaches on the sidelines were coming together for a common goal: Helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

"I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if we didn't do something," St. Bernard'ss Amanda Lundy said. "It's about the chain of love. You help if you can."

Lundy and other fans, parents and members of both teams stocked a truck with canned goods, bottled water, toiletries and other essential supplies to be dropped off at Matthew 25 Ministries. From there, the humanitarian organization will transport those donations to Texas.

For Matt Koenig, St. Bernard-Elmwood Place's athletic director, the cause is personal. He has family in Texas, he said, and he knew he needed to do something to help.

"They're in much more need than any of us," he said. "We've got clothes on our back and we're sitting, watching a high school football game tonight."

Lundy encouraged anyone with the means to help to do so.

"Give, even if it's just one bottle of water," she said. "Every bit helps."
