SILVERTON, Ohio -- Extreme cold caused two water mains to break early Wednesday morning, shutting down blocks for hours during the morning commute.
Water flooded Plainfield road as temperatures dropped below freezing around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials said the water main break affected 15-20 Silverton businesses Wednesday morning.
Another water main broke before 6 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Washington on Bonnie Drive near Mendova Lane.
Officials said the affected areas were salted to prevent thick sheets of ice from forming. Roads reopened at around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
