NORWOOD, Ohio -- Parkview Manor Apartments manager Michael Meyer entered Isaac Ramsey's apartment, he said, because he heard the sound of a baby crying.

"It went on for hours," he said. "We knocked on the door -- no one came. Finally, after like 20 minutes, we started banging on the door real hard, and no one ever came, so we decided to make entry."

When he stepped inside, he did find a 7-month-old boy with a lamp cord wrapped around his neck -- but he also found piles of cash, two "assault-style rifles," an unsecured shotgun and a jar of marijuana apparently meant for distribution, according to a report from the Norwood Police Department.

The cash discovered inside Ramsey's apartment totaled nearly $10,000, according to Norwood police Lieutenant Ron Murphy.

Ramsey, 19, now faces multiple drug trafficking charges as well as counts of child endangerment and possession of weapons despite a prior felony conviction.

Michael Meyer said he only hopes that Ramsey's son, who is now in the care of Hamilton County Children's Services, will get the care he needs in the future.

"As soon as I picked him up, he immediately stopped crying," he said. "He just wanted to be held; that's it. … "It's an unfortunate situation, and hopefully his dad gets the help he needs and can raise his child the way he's supposed to be raised."
