NORWOOD, Ohio — Firefighters in Norwood and the Cincinnati Children's Hospital donated diapers and other baby supplies Friday morning through a local nonprofit.

"Diapers are expensive," Bobby Schlachter, a Norwood firefighter and paramedic, said. "It's great that we can help out and see the expression on their faces when they get some aid, knowing that they can take care of their baby."

The firefighters donated the diapers at 8:30 a.m. to Baby Bear, an organization which aims to help families in Norwood provide "quality care" for infants and young children.

After the donation, the firefighters hosted a breakfast for the Baby Bear Free Shopping Event. The shopping event offered diapers, baby wipes, baby clothing and other baby items to families and trusted caregivers from Norwood for free.

When the shop closed, Cincinnati Children's Hospital hosted a car seat class for families who registered for the event.
