MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio -- It's tax season, and Mount Healthy's police chief has a cautionary tale to share.

On Tuesday, Chief Vince Demasi received an email from Mount Healthy's school administration. The email stated someone appeared to have hacked into the school district's W2 tax forms.

"It's really a good point for everyone to note," Demasi said.

The chief said someone falsely used his identity to request information from the treasurer's office. The request was for all W2 info on all Mount Healthy schools employees.

Demasi said at least one person reported evidence of "tampering ... with their tax return," but as many as 700 people could be affected.

"This is something we've seen before," he said. "So it requires companies, organizations, police, schools, really everyone to be cautious about releasing information."
