MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio — A 12-year-old boy is facing charges after police said he threatened students with a toy gun and was found drinking wine in school.

According to a statement issued Wednesday by Mt. Healthy Police Chief Vincent Demasi, the officials at Mt. Healthy Jr./Sr. High School were alerted Wednesday that a 12-year-old student was in possession of a firearm.

The school’s principal then reported that information to the school resource officer, who alerted Mt. Healthy police.

When officers confronted the boy, they found him to be in possession of a toy firearm and drinking wine from a cup while still in school, Demasi said.

A subsequent investigation found the boy made threats to two other students on March 1, saying, “I am going to shoot you,” to one of them, according to Demasi.

The investigation is still ongoing. The child was transported to Hamilton County Juvenile Youth Center, where he was charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of illegal possession of an object indistinguishable from a firearm in a School Safety Zone, and one count of consuming intoxicating liquor.

No other information was immediately available.
