MT. HEALTHY, Ohio -- A teenager was shot in the eye with a BB gun while walking his dog Tuesday morning, the Mt. Healthy Police Department tweeted.

According to the victim, 14-year-old Isaac McKinney, he was walking his dog on Joseph Street when a person in a passing car shot at him, striking the corner of his eye near this nose. His eyesight is blurry, McKinney said, but has improved.

"When I got hit, I was more angry than sad," McKinney said. "I was focused on how I would was going to survive."

The teenager met with doctors all day Tuesday to see the full extent of the damage.

"They're telling me that it will heal, but they're saying that they don't know how much it will and how much vision I will have or get back," McKinney said.

Many of McKinney's neighbors said they were shocked at the incident.

"It's unbelievable," said Regina Stenger, who lives next door to where the incident happened. "This town, this is a sweet town."

Another neighbor, Diane Schmidt, is also in disbelief about the incident.

"It is so senseless," Schmidt said. "It's hard to comprehend why someone would do such a thing.

To the person shot him, McKinney had one thing to say: "I'm still standing."

There have been no suspects identified so far, but police encouraged residents to contact Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040 with any information.
