GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 21-year-old man was critically injured and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after police say he was driving his motorcycle recklessly and tried to evade police.

At 10:15 p.m. Sunday, an officer spotted the man operating his bike at a high rate of speed and doing wheelies in the southbound lane of the 6500 block of Harrison Avenue, according to a news release from Green Township Police Chief Bart West.

The release said the driver refused to stop and fled southbound to the 6100 block, where he did a U-turn. The man turned east on Johnson Road and then south on Reemelin Road, where the officer lost sight of the motorcycle.

Officers said they located the man and his motorcycle wrecked in the 5600 block of Reemelin Road, where he had driven off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole guy wire and an unoccupied parked car.

The incident remains under investigation by the Green Township Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff Traffic Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
