PD: Male pedestrian killed by SUV in Green Township

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Cincinnati man has died after being struck by a Chevy Tahoe Monday night on Harrison Avenue.

Thirty-one-year-old James Heekin was not in a marked crosswalk when he walked into the southbound lane of travel on Harrison Avenue at its interchange with Interstate 74 at 7:53 p.m. Monday. He was struck by 52-year-old Joseph Bailey, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Heekin was taken to Mercy West Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition. He has since died, according to the Hamilton County Coroner.

The incident remains under investigation by Green Township Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Investigative Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
