DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Delhi Township police were called to a residence early Saturday morning for reported shots fired -- but they were taken aback by the home's stench of marijuana, according to a release from police.

Police arrived at the home in the 300 block of Greenwell Ave. at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, the release said. A resident, 20-year-old Cody McAmis, said he saw two suspicious men on his property with covered faces and a firearm.

McAmis -- also armed -- fired a shot through a side window when the men tried to enter the home. The suspects and McAnis exchanged gunfire until the suspects fled in a dark vehicle, according to police.

Police arrived at the residence and "immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana in the home," the release said. Officers found marijuana and other drug paraphernalia; McAnis was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession.

Delhi Township Police are still looking for the two suspects described by McAnis. "Suspect one" is described as a white male in his 20's, 6-foot to 6-foot-4, with possibly brown hair (his face was covered by a tee shirt). "Suspect two" is described as a male of an unknown race in his 20's, 5-foot-ten to 6-foot with an unknown hair color. The getaway vehicle is a dark -- possibly maroon -- vehicle similar to an early-2000s Ford Taurus, last seen driving north on Greenwell Ave.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident or suspects to call police at 513-922-0060 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
