COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Florida family taking shelter from Hurricane Irma volunteered in Colerain Saturday.

The Martinez family, of Fort Lauderdale, was among over 100 volunteers at Colerain Township’s Community Give Back Day.

Community Give Back Days, facilitated by People Working Cooperatively, help low-income, elderly and disabled neighbors in need.

Eddie, Elda and their daughters Catherine and Caroline are staying with relatives in Cincinnati until Irma passes through Florida.

The family spent their Saturday providing home repairs, installing smoke detectors and doing yard work at eight homes in the Colerain community.

The Colerain Chamber of Commerce, Colerain Fire and EMS, Colerain Police Department and several church and civic groups participated in the event.
