Fire damages Colerain Township home; no one hurt

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A fire caused $25,000 worth of damage to a Colerain home Saturday, firefighters said.

The Colerain Township Fire Department was dispatched for the fire in the 3400 block of Niagara Street, near Coleen Drive, at 2:50 p.m., firefighters said. There was heavy smoke in the single-family home and a heavy fire in an attached garage.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the garage, and fire that had spread into the living room of the home.

The fire was still under investigation, but appeared to be accidental, firefighters said.

The lone occupant who was home was safely outside when firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross was assisting three displaced residents.
