CLEVES, Ohio -- A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday night and charged with inducing panic for making a threat against Three Rivers School District, the Village of Cleves Police Department said.

Cleves Police posted on Facebook Thursday morning that the Taylor Middle School student who "was arrested last night made verbal threats only and, at the time of his arrest, was not in possession of any weapons nor did he have access to them."

That hasn't stopped many parents from being upset and commenting that the Facebook post below is the only way they were notified of the threat.

"My life is around these kids, and I'm pretty sure there are other grandparents like me that are concerned about their kids," grandparent Phyllis Sumner said.

Schools spokesperson Lisa Whiteley said district officials didn't want to "get the community worked up" with a call late at night when the threat had already been addressed.

The student was taken into custody by Village of Cleves Police without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
