CINCINNATI — Police responded Thursday night to reports of a fatal shooting near the intersection of Clark Street and Linn Street in West End.

Cortez Hudson, 37, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to Captain James Gramke.

Police said Hudson was found inside his car, and they weren't sure if he was shot inside his car at the intersection of Clark and Linn streets or if he was shot elsewhere and tried to drive away when he died in his car.

Fourteen-year-old Randez Collins, the son of Hudson’s girlfriend, said Hudson had been like a father to him throughout his life.

"He’s always been there for me," Collins said. “Got me what I needed, always looked out for me and my momma."

Collins and his aunt were both shocked by Hudson’s death; Hudson’s girlfriend was too distraught to speak with WCPO.

"I wouldn’t imagine Cortez having any enemies,” said Meme Collins. "So I’m assuming it would be just some senseless crime, you know."

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
