CINCINNATI -- A man accused of stabbing a woman while naked in Walnut Hills has been indicted by Hamilton County authorities.

Prosecutor Joseph Deters said Algeria Washington, aka Michael Washington, 27, is charged with two counts of assault and one county of criminal damaging or endangering.

In convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison.

The attack happened on Oct. 12 at about 1:45 p.m. near Oak Street and Stanton Avenue.

Deters said Washington attacked Maria Warren after she got off a bus. Washington is accused of yelling “obscenities” at Warren and then stabbing her in the face and hands with a large knife.

Washington was completely naked during the entire incident.

Deters commented, “This is a strange case. We do not often see naked men armed with knives running through residential neighborhoods in the middle of the day. Miss Warren was in the wrong place at the wrong time and, unfortunately, suffered serious injury as a result.”

Warren had to be hospitalized and required surgery. She didn’t know Washington before the incident.

Deters said several citizens chased Washington after he attacked Warren.

Police later arrested him near Gilbert Avenue. Washington had blood on his body when he was found.

The knife was found at the scene and was analyzed at the Hamilton County Coroner’s Lab.

There was a delay in charging Washington until his mental status could be determined.

Washington was scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 22.
