West Price Hill fire displaces six people

Posted

CINCINNATI — Six people are looking for shelter Thursday morning after a fire destroyed the West Price Hill apartment building they lived in.

Cincinnati dispatchers said they received a call at about 11 p.m. Wednesday of flames shooting out of a complex in the 1000 block of Overlook Avenue.

A Cincinnati fire commander said flames were shooting 30 feet in the air when crews arrived at the location. The six people living inside the complex were also standing outside of the building.

“There was heavy fire coming out of the second floor and the roof,” said neighbor Gary Villari. “They managed to knock most of the heavy fire down in about 20 minutes."

Villari added that one of the most danger things he saw were downed power lines in the street.

One of the residents in the apartment complex said she believed the fire started in a second floor air-conditioning unit. Firefighters continue to investigate the official start of the blaze.

A GoFundMe page has been started to help those displaced by the fire.
