SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Hamilton County) -- A man suspected of killing a woman in Springfield Township was killed by a state trooper north of Dayton early Tuesday.

Officers found 32-year-old Princess Brown dead with stab wounds on the floor of a Murat Court home at about 11:58 p.m. Monday, police said in a news release.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the suspect as Dana Dubose, 36, who they said was fatally shot by a trooper in Vandalia Tuesday morning.

The trooper was conducting a traffic stop at National Road (U.S. Route 40) and Ranch View Drive at about 1:03 a.m. Tuesday when another vehicle rammed the trooper's patrol car, according to a news release from the patrol. The driver, Dubose, exited the car covered in blood and approached the trooper while holding a knife.

Dubose ignored commands from the trooper and then lunged with the knife extended, according to the news release. The trooper fired once and hit Dubose, then administered first aid until emergency crews arrived.

Dubose was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hamilton County court records show that Dubose has a history of domestic violence. Judges granted at least eight protection orders filed by four different women against him since 2001.

Dubose served prison sentences at least two times for crimes connected to complaints of domestic violence. He was sentenced to four years in prison in 2008 after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary and violating a temporary order of protection for breaking into a woman's home and choking her.

He was also sentenced to two years in prison in 2015 for domestic violence and weapons while under disability for kicking down a door, grabbing a woman's neck and threatening to kill her.

Dubose was released from prison last year and scheduled to be on parole for three years. He was still on parole from that case when police say he killed Brown.

Detectives are still investigating both incidents, according to Springfield Township police. They asked anyone with information about the incident to call them at 513-729-1300 or the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 937-832-4794.
